The Devil's Attack

Hello Everyone!

Before we start, I just want to greet you all with the love and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the rock of our salvation. I just want to make a proclamation before anything else.

Hebrews 13:20-21

Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, 21 equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us[a] that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

This is going to be a series of discussion to understand the enemy. As a christian, it is of great importance to know who your enemy is. It is not the neighbor who blast music until wee hours of the morning nor is it your unfaithful husband. How responses to these situation will determine the future.

The truth is this revelation was not made possible without personal experiences. For awhile, I started to think and sometimes almost ask the question why Lord is this happening to me. Tormented with issues and family problems became such a burden. I sometimes wanted to give up. One day, I woke up and started to realize what was real.

We, as Christians, are no different from the world except for one thing. We know Jesus and have an intimate relationship with HIM. We become aware of our surroundings for what they are. The Earth is our battleground to fight against the prince of darkness and his goons. In a daily basis, the devil wants to ruin God’s people and does with all his might. After all, he came to steal, kill and destroy. I am not in any means glorifying Satan but simply to point out that he does exist and he came to destroy this world and everyone in it to increase the population in his kingdom.

We all experienced being victimized by the devil in many points of our lives. Any type of negating thought is a form of attack. Every second of our lives count. This is why Jesus came to save us by sacrificing himself on the cross. It is through Jesus that we can only find victory.

So why bother understanding the enemy when we can focus on Jesus, right? We do need to focus on our Savior. Jesus is the reason for living but problem is we can also hold hands with devil without knowing. We continue living less like Jesus, half baked and at the same time professing our faith. We do not know our real enemy. The problem lies is not knowing the Holy spirit. What does that mean?

In John 14:26 (ESV)
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

Without the Holy Spirit or even recognizing him, we will never know Jesus in the first place. The Holy Spirit, Jesus and God the father are one. At the same time, they each have a function.

In John 16:13 (ESV)
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
The Holy Spirit is the helper. The one guides us as we live on earth. It is HIS function to help us find the truth. This includes shedding light into the innermost parts. The devil is cunning and the only way to find his tactics is the Holy Spirit. You must cling to the Holy Spirit or life will just be another desolated existence.
The devil’s attacks are very very subtle. Its like the flu virus, it starts with one symptom. A cough may seem like nothing but it works its way to two or three more symptoms. Our body is now vulnerable. Then it takes over us. We must the recognize the subtleties of the enemy. It must start with us, sons and daughters of the living God. The bride of Christ, the church must deal with what seems “safe”. This is what spiritual warfare is. We recognize the things of the spirit.
Sometimes are discernment is distorted because we think we are immune to the attacks. We think we are fine. The devil can’t really harm us. This mentality is what he wants. He wants your guard down. As I mentioned before, the only difference between us the world is our relationship with Jesus. Be vigilant, oh be vigilant sons and daughters of God.
In 1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

The ESV version says it like this:
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
The enemy will use small areas to shroud us. It can be a thought, an offensive word or the song you listen to. Imagine if someone said something that may offend us. What happens? We start to dwell in it, day by day, the word is magnified. It’s like taking a magnifying lens and focusing on that particular word. We will feel exhausted even with less physical exertions. We toss and turn on our bed. Next, we can’t focus with our daily tasks anymore. It takes hold of our lives. Its the devil trying to lure into a trap. In the midst of the struggle, God is faithful.
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
I remembered the other day that I lost important set of keys for work. It is the type of keys that cannot be duplicated. I started tracing my steps but it was nowhere to be found. I searched the entire four-floor building and the dumpster but found nothing. I did remembered using it to open the supply room before continuing my tasks. It means I had it 30 minutes before it disappeared.  It also means it was never thrown in any trash can or dumpster. I just wasted my time looking for it in areas that I was not around in the first place. I could not sleep. I woke up exhausted of worry.
By the way, I was praying and the Holy Spirit kept showing a image of the HR office but I did not listen. Human nature kicked in trying to solve our own problems. Ha! Low and behold, the very next day, guess where I found it? Eureka! It was in the HR office the entire time. Someone found it on the floor and surrendered it to the Human Resources Dept.
Anyways, the lesson is know the holy spirit to recognize the enemy. We will end up losing ourselves if we do not recognize who is the real culprit is. The Holy Spirit is our connection to Jesus. I pray that we will all know the Holy Spirit so HE can guide us to all truth.
God bless you Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

P.S. Keep a look out for the next parts of the series. It is a blueprint to spot the enemy’s camp.
